Christina Aguilera's future husband has excellent taste! The 33-year-old singer announced on Twitter last Friday, Feb. 14 (a.k.a. Valentine's Day!) that she is engaged to boyfriend Matt Rutler. The bride-to-be also shared a photo of her stunning new engagement ring, and a source tells Us Weekly that Rutler designed the ring himself.

"Matt has been working on the ring for over a year and been working on the proposal for several months," an insider told Us. "Matt spent a year's time mastering all the specific details with the designer to signify their love and their journey together -- it's all reflected in the ring."
Aguilera and production assistant Rutler have been dating for almost three years after meeting on the set of the 2010 film Burlesque. During that time, Rutler had learned exactly what his future wife liked in an engagement ring.
"Matt knew what her two favorite rings were and married them together into one, incorporating all the details that she specifically loved," the source explained. "Every jewel and diamond placing has a reason and meaning for being placed there."

The diamond sparkler features nine multicolor gemstones that were selected for their symbolic meaning. They are placed in the setting beneath the main diamond "so they always touch her actual skin in forever-encouraging love . . . and surrounding her at all times," the insider shared.
The band is woven with diamonds to symbolize how the couples' paths crossed, and how their bond will continue to grow stronger.
